Goal of WiFi Map DAO
WiFi Map community operates under a decentralized governance framework called WiFi Map DAO, where community members participate in decision-making processes regarding the distribution of the DAO Fund. This fund aims to enhance the quality and global reach of the WiFi Map application.
How does the DAO work?
WiFi Map DAO utilizes a two-stage process: a forum to foster discussion and idea proposals, and Snapshot as a voting platform where formulated proposals will be presented for voting.
Anyone can participate in discussions and idea proposals, although voting is limited to WIFI holders.
WiFi Map DAO Guiding Values
Focus on Impact: We prioritize actions that lead to tangible outcomes and measurable impact, striving to deliver value to our community and WiFi Map application.
Innovation: We embrace innovation and leverage cutting-edge technologies to enhance our operational efficiency and drive continuous improvement.
Accountability: We hold ourselves accountable to our community by providing clear and accessible information about our decisions and operations.
WiFi Map DAO Membership
Participating in idea submission, commentary, and discussion is publicly open. However, voting is restricted only to WiFi Map DAO members. Holding at least one WIFI is the only requirement for membership in the DAO. Anyone can be a WIFI holder and all are welcome to come join us in shaping the future of DePIN.
What are the benefits of participating in the WiFi Map DAO?
Influence and Impact: Participants in a DAO have the opportunity to influence the organization’s activities and outcomes. By contributing ideas, feedback, and expertise, individuals can have a meaningful impact on the success and growth of the DAO and its associated projects.
Access to Resources and Opportunities: By participating in a WiFi Map DAO, members gain access to resources such as funding, expertise, or development tools, which can help them pursue projects or initiatives within the WiFi Map DAO ecosystem.
Funding of WiFi Map DAO
The funds for WiFi Map DAO are currently sourced from the WiFi Map company’s buyback initiatives. As the DAO community expands and gains significance over time, additional funding mechanisms may be incorporated to further support its operations.
Idea proposals
Every member of WiFi Map DAO can make an idea proposal to the DAO. Community proposals are posted by the WiFi Map community. These are used to propose ideas and express the community’s point of view. The WiFi Map team will incorporate any good ideas or designs with strong community support into Core proposals. Community members may also utilize our Forum to provide feedback and make suggestions to the product.
Types of ideas allowed:
CORE: DAO FUND ALLOCATION
Proposals for how DAO funds should be utilized.
CORE: BRAND DECISION
Proposals for anything the DAO attaches its name to, including projects and collaborations.
CORE: PRODUCT ADJUSTMENTS
Proposals for changes in the product offer.
INFORMATIONAL
Proposals for general guidelines or information for the community. Educational information on WiFi Map.
Idea Proposal Template
Normally the proposal ready for voting would look like this:
Abstract - A brief summary outlining the proposal.
Team Description - A brief introduction to the author and the team (required if requesting funding).
Benefit to WiFi Map Ecosystem - An explanation of how the proposal will benefit the $WIFI ecosystem, and how it aligns with the WiFi Map Community’s core mission and values.
Key Terms (optional) - Definitions of any terms within the proposal that are unique to the proposal, new to the WiFi Map Community, and/or industry-specific.
Platforms & Technologies - A detailed breakdown of the platforms and technologies that will be used.
Steps to Implement & Timeline - An outline of the steps to implement the proposal, including associated costs, key performance indicators, personnel requirements, any expectations of the WiFi Map core team, and other resources needed for each step where applicable. This section also provides relevant timing details, including the project’s start date and key milestones.
Overall Cost - A summary of the total budget associated with implementing the proposal.
The author can add additional fields to any template if necessary to fully communicate the intentions, specifics, and implications.
Voting on the proposal
Once a proposed idea receives basic information (please refer to the proposal template) and community support, it will be ready to be formed into the official proposal on the Snapshot platform by the WiFi Map core team. An announcement will be made on the forum and social media channels when a new proposal is ready for voting on Snapshot.
Every member of WiFi Map DAO can vote on the proposals. One WIFI is equal to one vote. As votes cannot be divided into fractions and the total number of votes shouldn’t ever exceed the total supply of tokens, the number of votes will be rounded down if a fractional number of tokens is owned by the voter (i.e., 100.1 tokens will result in 100 votes, and so will 100.9 tokens).
Snapshot is used for voting. $WIFI holders must go through a wallet authentication process to vote.
VOTING MECHANISM
Snapshot was chosen as a voting tool that:
- doesn’t require gas payment
- ensures transparency
- expands governance participation to all holders of $WIFI
Join our space on Snapshot for participating in the voting on proposals!
Veto
The WiFi Map Core Team has veto rights, and can perform corrective actions when it concerns the security or proper functioning of the application and ecosystem of WiFi Map, without going through a Snapshot poll. In the case of any veto action, the WiFi Map Core Team will provide an explanation.
What happens if I disagree with a decision made by the DAO?
Decisions are made by the community itself. If the majority has voted on something that goes against your beliefs, the only way to influence it is to present your reasoning against the decision on the forum, articulating and explaining your point of view. If your viewpoint receives community support, there will be a second vote on the matter.
Future of WiFi Map DAO
Creation of WiFi Map DAO is an attempt to create a space where users are not just passive consumers but active stakeholders. As holders of WIFI tokens, users have the ability to influence the direction of the DAO and the future of the WiFi Map app.
It is a new era and new experience for the WiFi Map team, nevertheless, we believe in further development of the WiFi Map DAO community and its growing ability to shape and revolutionize WiFi Map app.
